HEART AND VITAMIN C
Your heart needs Vitamin C. It is your most potent antioxidant and can prevent heart disease. There is a link between Vitamin C and heart disease. A shortage of Vitamin C results in your body tissues breaking down, especially your arteries and blood vessels. When there is a shortage of vitamin C, your arteries have a healing reaction—they make LDL to coat the stressed arteries, resulting in a build up in the artery walls.
Vitamin C is an essential vitamin for every cell in your body, needed for collagen production. It strengthens the immune system, aids in protein collagen prduction, and holds the body together. Collagen strengthens your blood vessels, skin, muscles and bones. You can’t make collagen without using up Vitamin C.
Since your body cant make this vitamin, you need vitamin C each day to keep your body healthy. Pauling felt the average man need 12,000 mg each day (200 times the amount you get in your diet.
Vitamin C is needed also for ubiquinone production, which is a strong antioxidant in your body. It helps cure mitochondrial and metabolic diseases.
THE LYSIINE STORY
Linus Pauling, Nobel prize winner, became a spokesman for nutritional megavitamin supplements the last 20 years of his career. He made almost single-handedly , Vitamin C the most popular supplement.
In1991, Pauling showed that LDL is not the culprit in atherosclerosis. He claimed the culprit was Lp(a), a small strand protein particle attached to LDL, called apoprotein. This particle sticks to the fibrin in artery walls.
He recommended L-lysine which cuts the Lp(a) molecules out of the arterial plaques: this makes the LDL just float away.
Lysine is a precursor to L-carnitine, an enzyme like coenzyme Q10 helps energy production. L-carnitine moves fatty acids into mitochondria where they can be burned.
The L-carnitine is made from L-lysine, but it takes seven enzyme steps. Two require Vitamin C for the formation of L-carnitine. For each molecule of L-carnitine to be made, two molecules of Vitamin C are used up.
The heart can be strengthened, and L-carnitine made, by taking 2 grams of both L-lysine and Vitamin C before each meal.
Vitamin C supplements lowers the risk of coronary heart disease. By taking Vitamin C you can prevent and recover from heart disease.
Vtamin C is water soluble, and found in oranges, grapefruit, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi, cabbage, tomatoes, and bell peppers. It is our most potent human antioxidant.
